FAMILY SCRIPTURES

    COVENANT

    Matthew 18:18-20:

    18  Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever
          ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
    19  Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall
          ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
    20  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

    OBEDIENCE

    Ephesians 6:1-7
    1  Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
    2  Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
    3  That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
    4  And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
    5  Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness
       of your heart, as unto Christ;
    6  Not with eye service, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
    7  With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

    Titus 2:9-15
    9   Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
    10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
    11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
    12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this
         present world;
    13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
    14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people,
         zealous of good works.
    15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

    MARRIAGE

    Genesis 2:18-24:
    18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
    19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them
         unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name
         thereof.
    20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there
         was not found an help meet for him.
    21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed
         up the flesh instead thereof;
    22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
    23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she
         was taken out of Man.
    24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

    Proverbs 5:15-19:
    15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
    16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
    17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
    18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
    19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished
         always with her love.

    Song of Solomon 8:6-7:
    6   Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the
        grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.
    7   Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his
        house for love, it would utterly be contemned.

    1 Corinthians 7:2-3:
    2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
    3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

    1 Corinthians 7:7-9:
    7  For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner,
       and another after that.
    8  I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I.
    9  But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

    Ephesians 5:21-33:
    21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
    22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
    23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the
         body.
    24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
    25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
    26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
    27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it
         should be holy and without blemish.
    28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
    29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
    30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
    31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall
         be one flesh.
    32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
    33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she
         reverence her husband.

    Hebrews 13:4:
    4    Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

    Colossians 3:20:
    20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

    1 Corinthians 7:3-4:
    3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
    4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of
       his own body, but the wife.

    Proverbs 12:4:
    4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

    Titus 2:3-5:
    3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to
       much wine, teachers of good things;
    4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
    5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not
       blasphemed.

    12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

    Ephesians 6:1-3:
    1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
    2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
    3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

    Colossians 3:20:
    20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

    CHILDREN

    Deuteronomy 6:6-7:
    6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
    7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house,
      and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

    Psalm 127:3-5:
    3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
    4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
    5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the
      enemies in the gate.

    Proverbs 13:24:
    24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

    Ephesians 6:4:
    4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

    Colossians 3:21:
    21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
